For the second year in a row, Delta won 11 of 15 individual singles and doubles matches in the 8-team Crawfordsville Invitational and placed second behind a highly ranked suburban Indianapolis team.

This time, 11th-ranked Noblesville won the tourney with 50 points on a day of cool temps and brisk winds — and even a brief sleet delay!  Delta, ranked 22nd, finished second with 36 points, one point more than 21st-ranked Bloomington North.

(Last year, on an abnormally hot and windy day, 10th-ranked Westfield won with 54 points and Delta was second with 37.)

This time, the Eagles won the flight at No. 2 doubles as sophomore Kelsey Vest and freshman Rowan Hinds collected victories over McCutcheon, Jeffersonville and Noblesville, all in straight sets. Kelsey and Rowan won 36 games on the day and lost just 11 against three schools with a combined student enrollment of 7,100 students!  Good work girls!

No. 1 singles player Gabby Knight, a junior, went 2-1 and finished runner-up to Noblesville in the top flight.  She gained a very nice victory in the opening round over Bloomington North senior Alex Shirley by a score of 6-3, 7-6.  She then beat Crawfordsville in the semifinals 6-2, 6-1 and lost to Noblesville 4-6, 1-6.

At No. 2 singles, sophomore Brylee Beckley lost to Noblesville in round one, then bounced back to beat Terre Haute North and Crawfordsville.

At No. 3 singles, senior Iva Witter cruised past North Montgomery in round one, lost to Noblesville in the semis, and defeated Terre Haute North for third place.

At No. 1 doubles, senior Janet Wegener and freshman Katie Manor beat Crawfordsville in round one, lost to Noblesville in the semis, and topped Terre Haute North for third place.

In JV action, Emily Hayes and Rylen Jones went 3-0 and Elizabeth Bamidele went 2-0 with both wins over Bloomington North.
