Carroll Edges Eagles

Fort Wayne Carroll, ranked 10th, slipped past 20th-ranked Delta 3-2 in varsity action Tuesday in a completion of a rain-delayed match.

The match was finished at Norwell HS after being interrupted by rain on Sept. 19 at Indiana Wesleyan in Marion.

Tannon Dishman and Joel Ashman completed a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles.  They improved to 20-2.

Mason Knight and Michael Curtis resumed their match at 5-5 at No. 2 doubles.  They dropped the first set 5-7, but then regrouped to win the last two sets 7-5, 6-1.

Jason Wegener entered the match down a set 3-6. He started hot and topped Ethan Radke 6-3 to even the match at a set apiece, but Radke regrouped for a three-set win.  The second game of the final set lasted 15 minutes with multiple deuces, but Radke prevailed and then cruised the rest of the way.

In JV action, Cade Brown trailed 3-5 when play began Tuesday.  He won 10 of 12 games for a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles.

Brandon Jackson and Caleb Gillis won six straight games after training 0-3 in the second set at No. 1doubles.  They won 6-2, 6-3.

Ben Slavin and Jaigen Glaze triumphed 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles to clinch the 3-2 JV victory.
