Singles led the way on Wednesday evening as the Eagles topped Shelbyville 4-1 in a Hoosier Heritage Conference match.

The makeup match was played at a neutral site, the New Castle courts.

Senior Kody Vest, senior Owen Cupp and freshman Luke Atkinson swept the singles by a combined score of 36-4.

At No. 2 doubles, sophomore Colten Cruea collected his first career varsity victory by teaming with junior Aaron Elliott for a 6-2, 6-4 win.

Shelbyville gained its lone point at No. 1 doubles where the Golden Bears’ duo of Aiden Smith and Wyatt Armstrong defeated juniors Brady Williams and Ben Miller, 6-2, 6-3.  Smith, a junior, competed in the IHSAA State Doubles finals a year ago.

In the JV match, Delta cruised to a 6-3 victory.

The Eagles are 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the HHC.  Next up will the annual Fort Wayne Carroll Invitational on Saturday.  The Eagles will play 23rd-ranked Cathedral in the opening round at 9 a.m.
