The Delta boys’ tennis team ran into its toughest opposition of the season and suffered a 4-1 loss Wednesday evening to 8th-ranked Fort Wayne Carroll.
The match was played at a neutral site at Norwell High School.
The highlight for 23rd-ranked Delta came at No. 2 doubles. Senior Jaigen Glaze and sophomore Walker Boyle played a spirited match and won 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.
The other positions were controlled by Carroll, although there were bright moments occasionally for the Delta players,
The JV match featured two unbeaten teams, but Carroll proved to be too much for the Eagles. Carroll won 10-1, with Riley Windsor and Devin McKinley earning an 8-7 (9) tiebreaker win at No. 1 doubles.
Delta (11-3 varsity, 7-1 JV) will play in the Peru JV Invitational on Saturday. The next varsity match is Wednesday against Pendleton Heights.
