Delta Tennis absorbed another fun experience Wednesday evening as the Eagles got to compete at an NCAA Division 1 tennis complex, the Foster Adams Family Tennis Center (formerly Cardinal Creek) at Ball State University.

Playing in front of a large crowd, the Eagles shut out Muncie Burris 5-0 at the varsity level and won 11-3 at the JV level.

Fourteenth-ranked Delta stayed unbeaten with a 6-0 record.  The Eagles limited a solid Burris team to 10 games.

Freshman Sophie Crabtree used alert movement and sharp footwork to beat Lucia Donahue, 6-1, 6-0.  She was named the “Tater Award” winner at the end of the evening.

Olivia Marshall gained a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles.  Stella Sieber followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles.  Both Marshall and Sieber moved the ball around from target to target to keep their opponents on the move.

In doubles, Kate Manor and Alexa Bratton came out blasting and posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Jessica Holroyd and Chloe Reed.

Rowan Hinds and Elizabeth Bamidele completed the shutout with a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles over Marlowe Shermeta and Rebecca Harmer.  Hinds and Bamidele are 9-0 for the season.

In JV action, the Eagle won the top 11 matches before dropping three “playback” matches late in the evening.

Avery Gray/Mia Elliott, Addy Anderson/Maddy Polito, and Kinley Meekin/Zoey Parrott all won by 8-0 scores.

Next up for Delta is a conference match at New Palestine tonight (Thursday).  The match begins at 6 p.m.
