Doubles led the way as the Eagles shut out Muncie Burris in a home match Wednesday evening.
Janet Wegener/Katie Manor at No. 1 doubles and Kelsey Vest/Rowan Hinds at No. 2 doubles each won 6-0, 6-0 over the Owls.
The singles matches were more competitive, but the Eagles won all three positions in straight sets. Gabby Knight won 6-0, 7-6 (1) at the top spot, followed by Brylee Beckley with a 6-1, 6-3 victory and Iva Witter with a 6-2, 6-3 win.
In JV action, everyone got to play in a 13-6 victory over the Owls. Elizabeth Bamidele and Caitlyn Kirby led the way in singles with quick victories. Audrey Anderson, Ella Marcum and Jocelyn Moody all were two-time winners in JV doubles. Hannah Swanson partnered with Mackemzie Lipps and picked up a doubles victory, which means that all 35 team members have won at least once this season.
Delta (7-2) is ranked 19th and will host New Palestine (6-1) in a crucial conference match at 5:15 p.m. Thursday. The Eagles and the Dragons each are unbeaten in league play, and so the winner of Thursday’s match will take control of the HHC race.
