Fort Wayne Carroll flexed its muscle on Tuesday evening and handed Delta a 5-0 loss in a neutral site match at Norwell HS courts.
In the most competitive match of the evening, Brandon Jackson and Dalton Royal battled at No. 1 doubles but fell 6-4, 6-3. Royal has filled in admirably for regular No. 1 doubles player Walker Boyle, who returns to the team from quarantine.
Seniors Jordan Ashton and Riley Windsor fell 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles
Tanner Southerland also had a 6-4 set at No. 1 singles, falling 6-1, 6-4.
At the JV level, the Eagles lost 7-4 in a good match. Owen Vest prevailed in a tiebreaker at No. 2 singles, and Sam Arnold-Aidan Landis were 8-6 winners at No. 1 doubles. Other winners were Cooper Roach-Preston Shanayda and Colin McCrady-Ross Meacham.
Delta’s varsity now stands 11-5 overall and 5-0 in the HHC while the JV team is 13-3. The Eagles host Pendleton Heights in a Senior Day match today (Wednesday, Sept. 23).
