There wasn’t much drama Tuesday evening as Delta girls’ tennis dominated Concordia Lutheran on the Cadets’ courts in Fort Wayne.
The Eagles won the varsity match 5-0 and lost only one game while winning 60 games in the five matches.
However, there were some big achievements to celebrate.
Senior Kate Manor became Delta’s all-time varsity victory leader in girls’ tennis with her 87th career win — all at No. 1 doubles. On the same night, fellow senior Rowan Hinds earned her 80th career varsity victory.
Only four girls have ever reached 80 career wins:
87 = Kate Manor (primary partners — Kelsey Vest, Janet Wegener, Alexa Bratton)
86 = Hayley Hall (singles player)
86 = Kristin Crider (primary partner — Katie Bryan … also played singles)
80 = Rowan Hinds (primary partners — Alexa Bratton, Elizabeth Bamidele, Kelsey Vest)
The Eagles also won the JV meet against Concordia by a 10-3 score.
Delta, ranked 16th in the state, raised its record to 13-1 varsity and 9-1 JV. Next up will be a match against 5th-ranked Center Grove at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Noblesville HS tennis complex. The Eagles then finish the Hoosier Heritage Conference season with matches at New Castle on Friday and against Shelbyville at Mt. Vernon on Saturday morning.
