The girls kicked off the sectional with a 5-0 shutout victory over Muncie Burris in beautiful conditions Thursday evening.

In the other match, Yorktown blanked Muncie Central 5-0.

Delta and Yorktown will meet today (Friday) at 4:45 p.m. for the sectional title.

The Eagles have won 10 straight sectionals and 28 of the last 29 sectional titles.

In the match against Burris, freshman Brylee Beckley won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for her 10th win of the season.

Maggie Hunt and Janet Wegener also won 6-0, 6-0 and are now 20-2 at No. 1 doubles.

Madelyn Haley and Iva Witter moved to 16-4 with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles.

Gwendolyn Clark outplayed Paige Powers 6-2, 6-2 at the top singles position.  Gwen is now 15-7 for her senior season.

Sophomore Gabby Knight improved to 17-5 with a 6-0, 6-4 victory at No. 2 singles.

The winner of the sectional will advance to the Marion Regional on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
