Led by the dominant performances of its doubles teams, Delta opened sectional play with a 4-1 victory over Muncie Burris in the semifinals of the Delta Sectional.

The 12th-ranked Eagles (14-3) advance to the sectional finals at 5 p.m. Friday.

Seniors Grace Belangee and Lexie Manor at No. 1 doubles and senior Kortney Helm and junior Mayzie Hinkle at No. 2 doubles made quick work of the Owls.  They each won 6-0, 6-0 and finished the matches at nearly the identical moment.

Emma Snider also win easily at No. 2 singles.

Tynan Dishman hung tough for a three-set win over Sarah Heffner at No. 3 singles.

Sophomore Izzy Behrman of Burris won a No. 1 singles showdown with junior Ellie Snider, 7-6 (5), 6-3.  Behrman, who is 20-2 for the season, will advance in the IHSAA Singles tournament
