Something had to give on Thursday evening when two undefeated tennis teams met on the Alexandria courts.
Alexandria, which again recently won the Madison County tournament, entered with an 8-0 record. Thirteenth-ranked Delta entered with a 4-0 record.
The Eagles limited Alexandria to just nine total games in a 5-0 road victory.
Sophie Crabtree, Olivia Marshall and Stella Sieber cruised to singles wins.
Kate Manor, Alexa Bratton, Rowan Hinds and Elizabeth Bamidele were doubles winners. Hinds and Bamidele were especially sharp all night as they remained unbeaten for the season and were awarded the coveted “Tater Award” at night’s end!
Both JV teams also were undefeated. Delta claimed a 10-4 victory in the JV match.
More than 30 girls from each team got to play in a great evening of tennis!
Both varsity and JV compete in Saturday tournaments this weekend.
The varsity travels to the Crawfordsville Invitational. Other teams include 27th-ranked Lake Central, Bloomington North, Terre Haute North, Crawfordsville, Noblesville, McCutcheon, and Indianapolis Pike.
The JV plays at the Plymouth Invitational with Plymouth, Blackhawk Christian, Bremen, Portage, Kokomo, Chesterton and Goshen.
