VS

Homestead

September 5th, 2020 at 9 a.m.

Loss 0 - 5

The Eagles couldn’t match the firepower of perennial tennis power Homestead in the opening round of Saturday’s Fort Wayne Carroll Invitational.

Homestead, ranked 21st at the time but likely to move up to around 15th this week, shut out the 27th-ranked Eagles 5-0.

The No. 1 doubles match was excellent for the first set before the Spartans pulled away.  Homestead seniors Landon Sather and Tim Steiner beat Delta senior Brandon Jackson and junior Walker Boyle, 6-4, 6-1.  It was the first loss of the season for Jackson and Boyle.

Delta had some close sets at other positions, but overall Homestead controlled the match from start to finish.
