The Delta junior varsity boys’ tennis team came up big on Saturday, beating Homestead and Fort Wayne Carroll to win the Carroll JV Invitational.

The Eagles won three matches on Saturday, beating Homestead squads twice and beating Carroll once.

The JV team in 14-2 and will finish its season on Monday at Mt. Vernon. The Marauders are 16-0 at the JV level, setting the stage for an exciting conclusion to the season.

Summary of Saturday’s results:

Junior Daniel Vencel won three matches at No. 1 singles, including an 11-10 tiebreaker victory over Homestead in the opening round. He is 15-2 JV this fall as well as 1-2 varsity.

Also going 3-0 on Saturday were junior Devin McKinley, sophomores Josef Zacek and Riley Windsor, and freshman Walker Boyle.

Boyle was dominant on Saturday as he won his three matches by a combined score of 30-4. He is 17-4 JV and 1-0 varsity in his freshman season.

Windsor improved to a team-best record of 18-2, while Zacek is 18-3 and McKinley is 16-4.

Senior Ben Slavin and junior Jaigen Glaze went 2-1 on Saturday at No. 1 doubles. Slavin is 16-4 JV and 1-0 varsity this fall and Glaze is 14-3 in addition to his 2-2 varsity record.

Freshman Aidan Landis won two matches Saturday, also. Sam Arnold, Jordan Ashton, Brad Shue and Eli Arnold all won once.
