The Delta boys’ tennis team settled a score on Monday evening by coming up big in a road trip to New Palestine.
Last year, New Palestine won the Hoosier Heritage Conference, beating Delta 3-2 and ending the Eagles’ 100-match HHC winning streak. Delta finished second in the league with a 6-1 record a year ago..
The teams are again the two favorites for the title this fall as they both return the majority of their key players from last season. On Monday night, Delta controlled most of the positions and claimed a 5-0 victory on the Dragons’ courts.
At No. 1 singles, senior Tannon Dishman rallied to beat New Pal senior Matthew True 7-6 (4), 6-3 in a matchup of arguably the conference’s top two players. Dishman trailed 1-4 in the opening set but regrouped and found a way to win.
