Delta’s singles players continued their recent hot play with a strong performance Monday evening at New Castle.
Gabby Knight, Brylee Beckley and Elizabeth Bamidele led the way to a 5-0 sweep at the Trojans’ Luddy Tennis Complex.
They all beat a Blessinger sister: senior Morley at No. 1 singles and freshmen twins Peyton and Ashlynn at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. All are strong athletes with competitive tennis backgrounds.
Knight won 7-6 (3), 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Beckley won 7-6 (2), 6-0 at No. 2 singles. And Bamidele won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.
Combined, the Delta singles players outscored the Blessinger girls, 38-19.
In doubles, the Eagles were dominant. Kelsey Vest/Katie Manor won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles and Rowan Hinds/Alexa Bratton won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.
In JV action, the Eagles cruised to a 12-4 victory as everyone got to play. Mylee Jones and Sam Diaz won twice.
The varsity improved to 4-2 and the JV is 5-2.
Delta will play at Muncie Burris at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday. This match will be at Ball State’s Cardinal Creek Tennis Center on the north end of campus.
