The Eagles passed their first test of the 2025 season with a 5-0 road victory over conference rival Greenfield-Central on Monday evening.
Junior Elizabeth Bamidele, in her first match at No. 1 singles, rallied from an early 0-3 hole and fought her way to a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Greenfield’s Kate Gilkison in the evening’s closest match.
Senior Brylee Beckley and junior Olivia Marshall each made quick work of their opponents, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
Delta also swept the doubles, with senior Kelsey Vest and junior Katie Manor winning 6-3, 6-0 and junior Rowan Hinds and sophomore Alexa Bratton winning 6-3, 6-2.
Ranked #23 in the season’s first poll, Delta is 1-0 entering a home match against #1-ranked Carmel at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Against Greenfield, Delta won the JV match 9-8.
Stella Sieber led the way with an 8-0 win at No. 1 singles. Anna Marcum/Addy Anderson won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles,
Other singles winners were Tru Swoboda and Maddi Cox. Other doubles winners were Marling Dowling/Avery Gray, Audrey Anderson/Maddi Cox, Mylee Jones/Ella Marcum, Maddy Polito/Maggie Ratts, and Mackemzie Lipps/Avery Barnes.
All 38 Eagles managed to get a match against the Cougars.
