Mayzie Hinkle Commits to IU-Kokomo for Tennis

Senior Mayzie Hinkle, who has played varsity tennis throughout her DHS career, has committed to play women’s tennis at Indiana University-Kokomo.

Mayzie, who played No. 3 singles earlier in his career, switched to No. 2 doubles last spring, where she finished 15-3 with partners Kortney Helm and Maggie Manor. Mayzie won all of her matches at the sectional, regional, semi-state and state level last season to help the Eagles reach the IHSAA State Finals.  She teamed with Kortney Helm to beat Jasper in three sets in the state quarterfinals.

Mayzie enters this season with 47 career varsity victories, which is the highest total of any current girl on the team.  With another big season, she could finish among the top 10 girls in school history in career wins.

Mayzie could play both singles and doubles in the IU-Kokomo lineup.  The team is coached by Kristine Miller.

Mayzie joins the following DHS Tennis players now competing in college tennis:  Alec Robillard (Ball State), Jason Wegener (Westmont College), Tannon Dishman (St. Francis), Maddie Holdren (Olivet Nazarene) and Shelby Robbins (Taylor).
