The varsity shut out Muncie Central 5-0 on Wednesday evening on the Bearcats’ courts. The Eagles dropped only six games in the match as they evened their record at 1-1 on the season. Jason Wegener defeated Erich Ong 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Ben Bamidele and Tanner Southerland each won 6-1, 6-0. Joel Ashman and Tannon Dishman blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0. Michael Curtis and Mason Knight won 6-2, 6-0 to complete the shutout. The JV won 2-0 as Josef Zacek and Sam Arnold each won singles matches.
The JV team then shifted sites to Ball State University for a match against Muncie Burris, which played a combined team of varsity and JV players. The Eagles won 6-4, highlighted by an 8-7 victory at No. 1 singles by sophomore Cade Brown. Other winners in singles were Daniel Vencel, Riley Windsor and Josef Zacek. Doubles winners were Jackson Boyle/Caleb Gillis and Jaigen Glaze/Ben Slavin.
