The 2026 girls’ tennis season is under way as the Eagles competed in a home scrimmage on Wednesday evening against Adams Central.

Between the two teams, more than 60 girls got to play in the scrimmage to knock some nerves out before the regular season officially begins.

Delta dominated in the upper half of the positions while Adams Central held its own in some of the middle and lower positions.

The Eagles will play their regular-season opener at 6 p.m. Thursday at home vs. Franklin Community HS.  Franklin is 1-0 after a 3-2 victory over Plainfield in their opener Tuesday night.

Franklin reached the IHSAA State Finals in 2023 and 2024 for the first two times in school history.  Delta has been an IHSAA team state finalist six times (2000, 2011, 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023).

This should be a good early-season test for both teams.

Delta then will play again at home on Monday against conference rival Greenfield-Central before traveling to Carmel next Tuesday.
