Bob Darby will begin his first season as Volunteer Assistant Coach for the Delta boys’ tennis team in the Fall 2025 season.
Bob was the second player in DHS boys’ and girls’ tennis history to make All-State Singles. He accomplished this in 1995 as a senior under head coach Tim Cleland, joining 1990 and 1991 All-State Singles player Kaus Christopher in this prestigious honor.
Bob also was part of the first Delta Tennis team to earned a state ranking (1994) and the first Delta boys’ tennis team to win a regional championship (1995).
He went on to play one season at Purdue University on the men’s tennis team before injuries ended his collegiate playing career.
Bob has coached the past several seasons as head coach of the Yorktown boys’ and girls’ tennis teams. He coached his oldest son Ethan and his daughter Jillian in their Tiger tennis careers. His youngest son Jackson will be a freshman on the Delta team this fall.
Bob and his wife Stephanie also have coaching experience at Taylor University. Stephanie (Dunn) Darby played tennis at Muncie Central HS and Taylor University.
