The stage is set.
The Noblesville Regional championship match will be between 16th-ranked Delta (20-2) and 4th-ranked Westfield (19-1) as both teams advanced with shutout victories in the regional openers Tuesday evening.
The match will start at 5 p.m. today at the Noblesville Tennis Complex. Admission is $7.
Delta gained a 5-0 victory over Jay County to reach the finals.
At No. 1 singles, Elizabeth Bamidele withstood a strong challenge from Jay senior Brenna Bailey, who was unbeaten for the year and had not lost even a set. Bamidele won 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 in a match that ended far after everything else had wrapped up. Bamidele improved to 15-8 this spring.
At No. 2 singles, Brylee Beckley defeated Meredith Dirksen 6-0, 6-1 and reached the magical 20-win plateau for the first time in her four-year standout career. She now has 67 career varsity wins and is tied with 2024 graduate Gabby Knight on the all-time leader board.
At No. 3 singles, Olivia Marshall continued her amazing season. She won 6-0, 6-1 and now stands at 18-2 in her first season of varsity tennis. Teammate Stella Sieber also has played No. 3 singles during the season and is 7-0 varsity, making those girls a combined 25-2.
At No. 1 doubles, Kelsey Vest and Kate Manor gained a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Jay County. They are 22-3 this season. With 74 career victories, Kelsey now is seventh all-time for DHS Girls’ Tennis. Kate has 71 wins and is 10th all-time with one full season remaining.
At No. 2 doubles, Rowan Hinds and Alexa Bratton also have reached the single-season 20-win milestone. They won 6-0, 6-0 over Jay, raining Rowan’s record to 21-3 and Alexa’s record to 20-3. Rowan is up to 63 career wins in three seasons and Alexa has 40 in just her second season.
Westfield advanced to the finals with a 5-0 victory over Alexandria.
In each of its three postseason matches, Westfield has been dominant so far. The Shamrocks lost one game to Hamilton Heights in the sectional opener, dropped one game to Noblesville in the sectional finals, and lost one game to Alexandria in the regional opener. The means Westfield has won 180 games and lost 3 in the postseason.
The winner of tonight’s match will advance to Saturday’s semi-state championship against the winner of 19th-ranked Homestead and Fort Wayne Concordia. Delta owns a 3-2 victory over Homestead this season.
