Win 5 - 0

The Eagles clinched at least a share of the Hoosier Heritage Conference girls’ tennis championship by easily shutting out Pendleton Heights 5-0 on the road Monday evening.

The 19th-ranked Eagles improved to 13-2 overall and 6-0 in the HHC. They will face Shelbyville on Saturday and can wrap up sole possession of first place in the conference.

The only other Delta sport to win a conference title so far this school year has been cheerleading. (Brylee Beckley, Alexa Bratton and Stella Sieber are varsity members of both cheer and tennis.)

Delta limited Pendleton Heights to only a handful of games won yesterday.  Altogether in the varsity and JV matches, Delta won 112 games and Pendleton won just 6 games.

Kate Manor and Kelsey Vest won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Olivia Marshall won by the same score at No. 3 singles.

Winning 6-1, 6-0 were Elizabeth Bamidele at No. 1 singles, Brylee Beckley at No. 2 singles, and Rowan Hinds/Alexa Bratton at No. 2 doubles.

The JV team won just as easily to improve to 9-2 on the season.

The Eagles will host Mississinewa today (Tuesday) for the annual Senior Day match.  The ceremony begins at 4:45 p.m., with the match to follow at 5:30.  Seniors being honored will be Avery Barnes, Brylee Beckley, Mackemzie Lipps and Kelsey Vest.
