After about 90 varsity matches over the past four years, senior Brylee Beckley finally got to experience the other side!

For the first time in her career, she got to play doubles. This took place during the Senior Day match against Mississinewa on Friday night.

Brylee and her partner, senior Kelsey Vest, won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles to help the Eagles to a 5-0 shutout victory over the Indians.

Vest’s regular partner, junior Kate Manor, slid down to No. 2 doubles to pair up with her friend, Rowan Hinds, and they cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Mississinewa, the champion of the Central Indiana Conference, put up a tougher fight in singles, although Delta was able to win every court..

At No. 1, junior Elizabeth Bamidele gained a 6-3, 6-3 victory over the Indians’ Michaela Cook.

At No. 2, junior Olivia Marshall had to climb out of a 1-4 hole to rally for her victory.  She beat Avery Wilson 7-6 (4), 6-2.

At No. 3, junior Stella Sieber dropped the first game before rattling off 12 in a row for a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

In the JV match, the Eagles won 6-1.  Senior Avery Barnes picked up a victory 6-0 at doubles with junior Marley Dowling.

The Eagles’ fourth senior, Mackemzie Lipps, had a previous commitment and could not play in the Senior Day match, which was rescheduled from a Tuesday rainout.

Delta, ranked 19th, improved to 15-2 overall varsity and 10-3 overall JV.  The Eagles are 6-0 in the Hoosier Heritage Conference and can wrap up an undefeated conference championship today (Saturday) against Shelbyville.  The match is at 10 a.m. at the Mt. Vernon courts.
