The boys’ tennis team opened Hoosier Heritage Conference play on Saturday morning with a 4-1 victory over Shelbyville on the home courts.
The 25th-ranked Eagles were dominant in singles as Tanner Southerland, Brandon Jackson and Daniel Vencel combined to lose only two games.
Shelbyville was much stronger in doubles. Cade Brown and Mason Knight won the opening set 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, but an athletic Shebyville team turned it around and won the final two sets 6-3 and 7-6 (11-9).
Jaigen Glaze and Walker Boyle prevailed 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.
The JV team won 6-5 to stay unbeaten.
