Jason Wegener Commits to Westmont College

Senior Jason Wegener, the second winningest player in Delta Tennis history, announced today (Wednesday, May 3) that he will attend Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California, to play tennis for the Warriors.

Wegener, who finished his career with 93 varsity victories, was named to the All-State Singles team this fall after leading the Eagles to the semistate.  Only Zach Ervin, who played four years at Butler University, has won more varsity matches for Delta (101).

Jason’s parents, Jim and Joy Wegener, each are graduates of Westmont College.  Jason visited the school last month and received an offer to play on the tennis team, which competes at a national level in NAIA.  The school has won eight national titles in various sports.  The Warriors have finished as high as third in the nation twice in men’s tennis and have produced 26 NAIA All-Americans in men’s tennis.

Jason plans to study business and economics.  The school has an enrollment of about 1,300 students and is set in the foothills of the Santa Ynez Mountains.

Congratulations Jason.
